This is the primary reason why the Florida Workers’ Advocates and the Florida Justice Association have joined forces to stand up for working people at the State Capitol and throughout Florida in a unified manner.
Whether the focus is on the manner in which rates are established or the denial of medical treatment and related benefits for injured workers, the overwhelming theme is that the workers’ compensation system has been skewed in favor of big business and the insurance industry for far too long. We have all represented individuals who have been harmed by this fractured system.
The Supreme Court has sent a powerful message through two opinions that parts of this system are unconstitutional and that the system needs to be fixed. The special interests who capitalize most from Florida’s workers’ comp system are doing everything possible to invalidate these Supreme Court opinions by proposing legislative changes which would further damage the well being of our clients and impair our ability to adequately represent them.
They are sparing no expense to advance their positions, notwithstanding the strong language contained in the High Court’s opinions. FWA and FJA have joined forces, stronger than ever before, to ensure that the workers’ comp system is one which can truly help hard-working people who suffer unfortunate injuries.
